Ever since it was announced that Vetements designer Demna Gvasalia was taking over the creative helm of Balenciaga, the fashion world has been abuzz wondering what his debut collections would look like. The wait is over for the menswear, as the Balenciaga Spring/Summer 2017 collection was presented yesterday in Paris. Taking place on the rooftop of a high school, the show was an intimate affair with only three rows of seating.
The clothes themselves were extremely interesting. Demna is known for his quirky design sense, and it was clearly reflected in the aesthetic he went for. Large, boxy shoulders on coats and jackets were the main motif, as well as men in stacked boot high heels.
